Dokpesi was never arrested, he went there on his own volition- Lawyer says

Yesterday Sahara Reporters released a statement that the DAAR Communications chairman, Raymond Dokpesi was arrested in connection with the fake $2.1 billion arms deal but his Lawyer, Mike Ozekhome in an interview with Leadership newspaper, said Dokpesi was never arrested, rather he was invited by the EFCC and he honored the invitation...

 “Chief Dokpesi was not arrested but invited by the EFCC. He went there on his own volition, voluntarily upon a mere phone call, asking him to see the acting chairman of the EFCC, Ibrahim Magu. The EFCC was trying to find out if there was any contract awarded to one of the firms under Daar Holdings from the office of the NSA. The firm later replied that there was no such contract in its record. The commission later demanded for the list of directors and same was made available to the agency. One of our lawyers accompanied Dokpesi to the EFCC and I believe that he will be released once he is through with the questioning.”he said

In his response to Sahara Reporters, the Nigerian Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki dissociated himself from the $2.1bn arms deal scandal, stating that it was a false allegation and that he would be pressing charges. Reacting to Senator Saraki's statement, the Founder of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore said they are ready to meet him in court

"As Nigeria’s number three man, there is no need for him to do legal tourism by going to courts outside the country. He should believe in the system and go to any court in Nigeria. We are ready to meet him in any court in Nigeria.
If he goes to court to challenge us outside of Nigeria, he would be using the money he has taken (stolen over these years) from the Nigerian people to pay expensive (pricey) lawyers outside the shores of Nigeria whereas all the evidence (s) of his corruption are based here in Nigeria." he told Premium Times

As reported by Sahara Reporters, Chairman of Daar Communications/AIT, Raymond Dokpesi has been linked with the $2.1bn arms procurement deal under former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki and has been arrested alongside former Sokoto State governor, Attahiru Bafarawa.
